A DAY AT THE RACES

Does this racetrack look familiar? The Atlanta Motor Speedway is a major stop on the annual NASCAR tour, along with Daytona 500, Talladega, Pocono 350, and the granddaddy of them all…The Indianapolis 500. You can catch the Speedway in several films & television series, including Smokey and the BanditSmokey and the Bandit IIStroker AceSix PackLogan LuckyAnchorman 2: The Legend Continues, and MacGyver.

Auto-racing is one of America’s most popular sports and a billion-dollar industry. While not as widespread as the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB, it has an extremely loyal fan base. If your stay includes a visit to the Atlanta Motor Speedway, you could not have made a better choice! A straight drive down Tara Blvd. will put you right in front of the main gates in less than 15 minutes.

Race fans have a lot to experience once they arrive. Stop by the Fan Zone for souvenirs, autographs, memorabilia, and rides. The Folds of Honor Mainstage has pre- and post-race concerts and interviews. If you are visiting in early October, the Georgia State Fair occurs on its fairgrounds. Finally, for $20 on select Friday nights, you can take your car and drive “Cruze” it on the raceway! Plan to arrive at the track early. Fan Zone activities start around 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m. Friday – Arrive early; there is plenty to do!

Camping is another popular option for those who have RVs and trucks. Water, power, and sewer connections are available for $35/day. You will find camping locations outside the grounds and on the infield track. For $50/day, you can camp on the infield track where you’ll be closest to the action, as long as you respect the camping “house” rules (Quiet hours, lengths to platforms, flag heights, no campfires, enforced parking credentials, and pets on leashes).

The Speedway has a convenient SMS system for Frequently Asked Questions. Just text AMS to 69050 for assistance. The AMS support via text is only manned during the following hours:
